Temporary charging is defined by an end date, and that single fact changes every criterion. Equipment must arrive without a construction programme, operate for a defined period, and leave without trace — which means the usual comparison of capital cost against efficiency over fifteen years does not apply. What matters instead is cost over the project duration and how completely the site can be handed back. The crossover point is not a formula, because it depends on whether the buyer expects another project afterwards. A mobile unit retains value precisely because it can move to the next site, and that option is worth little to an organisation that will not have one.
Leaving No Trace Is Part of the Requirement
On construction, events and infrastructure works the site is usually restored at completion, and anything requiring foundations, ducting or a new connection creates a reinstatement obligation. A self-contained unit standing on a prepared surface avoids that entirely.
MPMC lists the BCH range as integrating an LFP battery system, DC charging modules, an EMS and a mobile chassis in one enclosure, described as plug-and-play with pre-configured socket arrangements. The BCH-275-200 is listed at 2,800 kg on a 3.5 t heavy-duty trailer with an integrated forklift pocket, which is the format that best suits a site expected to be cleared.
Sizing for a Known, Finite Demand
Temporary projects have an advantage permanent installations lack: the demand is usually known rather than forecast. The vehicles are counted, the working hours are fixed, and the duration is on a programme, which makes energy-per-day arithmetic reliable instead of speculative.
MPMC’s published range covers 70 kWh on the BCH-80-70, 203.5 kWh on the BCH-275-200, 407 kWh on the BCH-600-400, 610.6 kWh on the BCH-800-600 and 1,075 kWh on the BCH-500-1000, with rated DC output from 80 kW to 600 kW. Because the model number is not the DC output rating, both figures should be taken from the datasheet and restated in the quotation.

The Recharge Arrangement Decides the Site Plan
Temporary sites rarely have spare electrical capacity, which is usually why a mobile unit was chosen. MPMC lists AC input from grid, generator set or solar on models from the BCH-275-200 upward at 80 kW to 560 kW depending on model, plus a CCS2 DC input allowing recharge from a fast-charging point, listed at approximately one hour for the BCH-275-200.
On a project with no supply at all, the recharge route becomes the whole logistics plan: either a generator runs on site, or units rotate to a charging point elsewhere. Both are workable, and both need to be designed before mobilisation rather than discovered in the first week.
Warranty Terms Read Differently on a Short Project
MPMC’s published terms list a system warranty of 3 years or 1.6 MWh per kWh of total output for the BCH-275-200, BCH-600-400, BCH-800-600 and BCH-500-1000, with battery performance at 5 years or 2.57 MWh per kWh and end-of-life capacity retention of at least 70%. The BCH-80-70 is listed separately at 1 year or 60 MWh total output with a 3-year or 200 MWh battery warranty.
On a six-month project neither limit is likely to bind, which shifts attention to what happens between projects. Storage conditions, state of charge during idle periods and the transport regime all affect the asset’s condition when the next project starts, and they are worth agreeing with the supplier rather than improvising.
Handling Between Sites
A unit bought for temporary work will spend part of its life in transit, and the transport regime is easy to underestimate at purchase. MPMC lists the BCH-275-200 at 2,800 kg on a 3.5 t heavy-duty trailer with an integrated forklift pocket, the BCH-600-400 at 8,300 kg, the BCH-800-600 at 15,000 kg and the BCH-500-1000 at 19,800 kg in a 20 ft container footprint, with container loading figures published per model.
The threshold that matters is whether a unit can be towed or forklifted, or whether each move requires a crane, a low-loader and a permit. On a portfolio of short projects that difference compounds quickly, and it usually outweighs a modest capacity advantage on paper.
A Published Temporary Installation
MPMC lists a Netherlands deployment combining the BCH-275-200 with the BCH-500-1000 for a renewable-powered charging station, and a separate Netherlands reference describing a 1 MWh grid-connected charging station using a 500 kW / 1,000 kWh integrated unit. These describe the class of installation supplied rather than a guarantee for a different project, whose throughput follows its own vehicles and hours.
Terms to Fix for a Temporary Project
• State the project duration and whether a follow-on deployment is expected.
• Compare cumulative hire cost against purchase over the actual project length.
